Social Recruiting + Hiring Manager Buy-In

A few weeks ago, I shared how I used a video to increase the number of qualified applicants and hire faster. If you missed it, you can read it here. I got a few follow-up questions  and about getting hiring manager buy-in.

Today, I’m answering 2 of the most common questions I got:

  • How can I get my Hiring Managers to record a video?
  • How much time does this take?

Let’s dive in.

Step 1: Get Hiring Manager Buy-In

Discuss your sourcing strategy during the Intake Call. Be sure to ask why we’re hiring for this particular role.

Let them know that you’ll schedule a follow-up 15-30-minute Zoom meeting that you’ll record to repurpose as social media content.

All they have to do is show up camera-ready.

Step 2: Outline Questions

After the Intake call, review your notes and come up with 3-4 questions about the role and the team. Base the questions on what candidates need to know to understand the role.

Send your hiring manager the questions a few days before the call. You can even include answers based on your notes.

Step 3: Record the video

Once the hiring manager joins the call, make sure you can see and hear them. Ask each question individually, and ensure you keep a conversational tone.

Don’t forget to hit record!

Step 4: Create Clips & Add Captions

Once you’ve downloaded the video, you can use a tool like OpusClip to clip the video and add captions.

I like OpusClip because it analyzes the video, chooses the most impactful moments, and creates up to 10 short clips you can easily share on Social Media. It also auto-generates captions. This is by far my favorite AI tool for content creation.

Step 5: Post & Share

That’s it! Now you can download your clips and share up to 10 unique posts to promote your role.

Keep it Simple

If you follow this plan, you drastically increase the likelihood of getting your Hiring Managers onboard with creating videos you can use to attract qualified candidates and fill roles faster.

The best part about this plan is that you can repurpose most of these videos for any role on that Hiring Manager’s team. And it only takes 30 minutes of their time.

Start simple; once you get the swing of things, you can start recording this video during intake calls.
